The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has launched a new statistics and data visualization page that offers investors, market participants, and the public deeper insight into the capital markets. The page can be found on the SEC’s website under Data & Research.
The new page includes interactive graphics and regularly updated statistics covering initial public offerings (IPOs), exempt offerings, corporate bond offerings, reporting issuers, municipal advisors, transfer agents, and household participation in the markets.
Users can explore time series charts for trends, pie charts for distribution, and heat maps for geographic data. The tools are designed to make complex financial information more transparent and accessible.
SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins emphasized that the initiative promotes transparency and accessibility, giving the public an “unprecedented window into the capital markets.” Acting Chief Economist Dr. Robert Fisher added that these tools will enhance understanding of market developments over time.
The resource also includes the following: Statistics Table: Regularly updated key data // Statistics Guide: Methods and sources explained // Statistics Download: Full datasets for independent analysis // Related Materials: Research, reports, and investor resources
With regulators expanding data accessibility, firms should expect greater scrutiny, transparency, and accountability. These tools make it easier for the SEC—and the public—to spot trends, anomalies, and potential compliance issues.
